Survivor of the Holocaust
Hank
He was around the age of 13 when all of this happened. He had to work in order for both him and his mom would have food. On September 3, 1942 he opened the door to find German, and Ukraine police at his door and was told to pack up and leave his home. When him and his mom reached the train station there were people there being ordered to go left or right. Left meant you were strong enough to work and right meant to go to the train car. At first he was ordered to go to the right but was stopped by a German Officer who ordered him to the left. Could this have been one of those soldiers who didn't think it was all that right to kill these people? Hank also mentioned that the fur that people had were taken and given to the German soldiers on the Russian front. This shows how much the government was in need and how soldiers were suffering from the extreme coldness to a point where fur coats were needed.
